Back in May i blogged about a lovely two days in Dalston filming a video with The Qemists for their new single S.W.A.G out August 24th 2009. This is the glorious finished result by the awesome team brought together by Nathan Seabrook! (more…)
Haven’t been bloggin’ as ferociously as i used to lately and that is kind of down to being so blooming busy with the boys from Brighton! Touring with The Qemists this year has already took me to 5 different countries, playing around 24 gigs in support of their debut album ‘Join The Q’ which is out now! If you haven’t seen us yet there’s plenty of gigs on the way over summer, check out the tour dates in right column on blog. This little video is a snapshot of The Qemists Live so far… (more…)
Suppose to play in Manchester yesterday @ Oh My God (such an apt name) with The Qemists our first show in my home town! Was soooo excited for the lads to experience the local crowd meet all my friends and rock the fook out with fellow Mancunian dnb/metal rockers The Daywalkers, especially in the plush surroundings of Opus at The Printworks. However due to ill organization and lack of experience it didn’t happen
In fact not one of the four bands booked to play at last night’s event could play thanks to there being next to no technical set up for one live band let alone four! It was a total shambles and as sorry as i feel for the promoters, i feel even more sorry for the bands that hyped this event, lugged all their equipment through the back stage maze of the Printworks into a salsa lesson, only to have to wheel it all back down, load up and drive home an hour or so later. More than that i feel sorry for the ravers that paid their good money to get into a night that only 30% of the headline acts actually played at…
Have spent the past two days in a catsuit, army boots and cape heavy breathing in the old Dalston Boys Club….not an average weekday (one can but wish!) but the video shoot for the next Qemist single S.W.A.G! (more…)
Not in a good mood today, the ankle is pissing me off and the codeine has worn off severely, have made the decision to drink instead of drug the pain away thanks to yesterdays shenanigans! Slept in the cot for most of journey from Cologne, im thinking until im better its the only comfortable place to be in the van with my leg up!
Quite a mellow evening apart from my twitter apology from Rory for calling me a bitch and the gig in which we changed up the set a little and got another killer reaction from the crowd. Its mad fun playing for Shikari fans their well up for new music the merch is selling and everybody’s happy at the end of the night! I would have liked to go out and explore what this city had to offer but walking isnt the easiest right now and i have to be able to jump around for half an hour every evening onstage which means foot up whenever im off..
Was a dope day in this familiar city, spaced out but hanging with friends Matt Flores and the lovely Tina talking about films, music and passing trees (more…)
Ow ow ow ow, its the morning after a very rowdy night before. We had a great gig in Bochum, even if i was in the worst of moods by the end of it, however a good old knees up ( ankles down) with The Qemists and Enter Shikari soon changed the mood….
Im sat back stage whilst Enter are sound-checking my favourite song Juggernaut, i keep waking up singing this bitch seriously the choon is the shizzle! Has also been first day with the Shikari crew after our riot bonding sesh in Brussels, has been some jokes this afternoon i tell thee.Anyways here goes tour diary day 7, which by the way was another day off here in the bountiful Bochum!
After an amazing day n night in Brussels (where im sure the ankle first began to hurt) we headed on over the border to Bochum, which we all thought was in Poland but is actually in Germany, go figure genius’s! On route we watched Chopper as we finally had the dvd player working, all it took was a little slap and a poke from Timmy two dinners, he the man!
So Bochum….is interesting, our first experience of a Formula One hotel aka swingers town! This hotel was my worst nightmare for real, bunk beds, communal toilets (VD’S) and showers (verruca’s), with red and green lights over head…like that was suppose to be cute, in my first 30 mins in the hotel i seen 4 men roaming the corridor in their undies, very tight white undies and they weren’t even fit!! (more…)
Tonight on Radio One’s In New Music We Trust its the boys!! The Qemists will be getting the full feature between 9-10pm from Mr ‘Its all gon’ Pete Tong himself! We will be tuned in…on listen back for sure!
We’ve finally made it to a hotel, thank the lord! What a day indeed, we’ve been all over the show in France on what was suppose to be a day off at a heavy metal festival in Lille. However fate didnt have it that way instead we are in Belguim a day early, shacked up at an Etap hotel near an airport after ooo maybe 5 hours or more driving in the van with a dvd player THAT DOESN’T WORK! (Nice one Tiger Tours).
I feel rinsed and my bed sheets smell of sex, BUDUSSY and non of its mine…ewwww. Im also tipsy and have a bottle of red wine with me from the gig in Dam. Oh Amsterdam how i miss you already, yet strangely soothing now to be so far away…. (more…)
What is it with 19-21 year olds chatting me up recently? Do i look that young? Ok maybe in this picture i do, Im not complaining just asking seriously what is up with that? (more…)
Im the only one still awake at Qemist HQ, there’s an hour before the bus comes to pick us up for our two week road trip across Europe. Im mad excited and also hoping to make most of cot in back of splitter hence the no sleeping (thanks Mr Carne!). All sorts of things running through my head…did i pack enough knickers, should i have brought my skirt, will he bother like i did to make the 5 hour round trip, should i shave my hair off and why have i only brought clothes that make me look like a teenage boy?! Nothing major i suppose just last minute jitters…all melts away when i think of all the fun we’re gonna have on stage. Yay Antwerp here we come
Back down the road i go to Brighton this week for a reunion with the family aka The Qemists. We’re back on tour across Europe from the 18th – 30th of April. Supporting Enter Shikari most of the way but our first two gigs this weekend are solo, on a little warm up flex! We are most definately in a city near you if your in the European ends this April, full details are up on the blog calender, if your in Antwerp or Amsterdam this weekend and wanna rock out check us out at… (more…)
Rock the fook out people its the glorious weekend, 7 days since i broke my 9 month drought and 30 days til The Qemists Live begin our support slot on the Enter Shikari European tour. I think this song for the day is more than appropriate cause i am really sorry if your not a winner!
Peace n Love… The Jenna Ral G
No time to write to much to take in, miss my camera but the Iphone is capturing the moments nicely!
Out in Japan on a Ninjatune family outing one could say….Coldcut, Yppah, The Bug and Thunderheist alongside The Qemists have been filling the bill in Osaka and Tokyo…some of them i’d heard of before the trip, some i had not. Isis & Graham from Canada aka ying & yang make up Thunderheist and im liking their vibe, musically for sure. Check this track out for a sample of their sound, Little Booty girl also featured in the Wrestler… Drinks are on them!
As March creeps up bringing with it the release of The Qemists single On The Run (23.03.09) the press machine goes into action. The track has already had alot of love from my former home 1Xtra, thanks to Mistajam with a bit more on the way next week. Tune in from 7pm Monday to find out more… Shouts to Coxy for also giving it a spin on Radio 1 whilst covering for Jo Wiley and props have to stay with the Beeb for tomorrows TV slot! The Qemists (interview and On The Run video) will be appearing on BBC 2 Sound with Annie Mac and Grimmy this Saturday @ 1.30pm, perfect hangover viewing…Now i know you’ve already seen the video, however like me you might be curious as to what their gonna say?
More madness from the Qemists rolling stone @ Jenna Ration G
OMG its official, The Qemists wil be supportting Enter Shikari in April during their European tour. We’re hitting up France, Belguim, Austria, Germany and some other country i have never heard of! Woop woop, rock n roll baby…maybe i’ll get my rock god husband a little sooner than i expected, lmao! All joking aside though im really excited, this band were the best thing i got from my last relationship and they are f**king killer on stage, their music’s definately not for the faint hearted. Really think we’re all gonna learn an awful lot out there…tee hee, as well as get some sick tour scars and stories lol!
All confirmed dates are up now on the events calender @ Jenna Ration G
OK so im probably doing this the wrong way round but im not bothered… Friday saw the final version of the ‘On the run’ video hit the internet… Heres what went on behind the scenes on the day….ok not everything cause im protecting the innocent but still its a fun lil snapshot of our Monday at the transgender safehouse known as The Little Marlborough!!
OK so im currently obsessing over Mike Patton after getting to sing his song from Join The Q in The Qemists live show, Lost Weekend is so ill and me and Bruno have nuff fun performing it. Do keep an eye out for some rehearsal footage on its way v soon… Any hoo, found this whilst casually browsing Youtube with Mike longside another live rock legend of our time Buckethead! SICK!!! It reminds me of some modern day jazz band improv, the mash up of sounds is so dense but each skit they pull is head nodding and melodic for sure, 2 mins in is my fav Mike kills it, swoon
Yay its finally here your first sneaky peek at The Qemist live show which kicks off in Feb. Live vibe video for the single out in March by the uber talented Nathan Seabrook. Been waiting with baited breath for this one, the director’s past work impressed the hell out of me and i was well nervous working with him… (more…)
Last night in Brighton after rehearsals I went out for a quiet drink with the lads, which soon turned into a debaucherous mash-up involving alcohol in plastic bottles, girlfriends telling me very interesting facts about their partners, invites to hang out with porn-stars, skein appreciation, Nurishment and youtube amongst other things. It ended with me throwing up in The Qemists sink 15 minutes before rehearsal…luckily it was fluid more than chunder, so no major clean-up needed and also I wasn’t the only casualty so no major embarrassment there (phew!). Even better than all that though was the fact that the pub (The Robin Hood) is a charity pub….which means all its profits after running costs go to charity!! I’ve never heard of anywhere like this before but it makes me feel all warm and tingly inside (even when hurling into sinks) that my alcohol intake is helping someone, somewhere to maybe do something they couldn’t before!!
