theres a stillness in time

Pulled out Jamiroquais Return Of The Space Cowboy from the CD rack this week and it hasn’t left my stereo since, such perfect music for the glorious weather and it still sounds more than relevant 17 years after its release. Definately my favourite album from Jay Kay and the lads i’d forgotten just how amazing some of the songs are; Half The Man, Mr Moon & Morning Glory!! Do not play these when your alone with me if you dont want me to jump your bones! Far to early (in the UK) for any rumpy pumpy so hows about this little beauty instead, enjoy ;)

softly softly ;)

Love the beginning of a new week, all be it a day late thanks to the bank holiday (hope you all had a blissful one like mine ;) Woke up to a host of  new music in my inbox all set for release in the following month. Pick of the bunch has to be this ever so soft and sparse beauty from Eglo’s 1st Lady Fatima, production from Floating Points. May i suggest listening to it with a Corn Oil cocktail and a cutie close, jus to put that cherry on the cake ;)

Catch me performing at the Manchester album launch April 6th at Noho, in the meantime enjoy the below sampler featuring remixes from Chimpo, Dom Hz and more :)

Every time im at my sisters we always have a time travel session usually back to the late 80′s early 90′s, this evening is no different. Big tunes getting drawn in the kitchen and old skool steps getting thrown down on the linoleum! What you know bout Joyce Sims?

music monday

Lots of lovely free downloads and new uploads for your listening pleasure this fabulous Monday. Craggz n Paralell’s exclusive DOA mix is up on Soundcloud, was a lovely setting for my morning coffees and general wakey wakey time. Shy FX is letting off part 2 of the Raver EP for free, which includes some big remixes and all you have to do is give him your email, schweet. Example Mag is asking if this is the worst dubstep track ever, in fact hes not asking more stating the facts as to why it might possibly be, breaking down the press release that accompanied this US offering, too much jokes defo worth a read if not a listen. Finally gonna give the Todd Edwards @ Murkage a little blast as its just gone up on soundcloud @ Murkage Presents, noice noice musical Mondays, did i miss anything? If so link me up yo!

Another fav after the jump is a mix from DJ Akira Ishi at the Worldwide Showcase in Tokyo, best thing is both are available to download for free :)

ode to the spider

Somewhere in my frontroom is a monster, its present location is currently unknown. This unsettles me somewhat, having met if face to face only once i cannot be to sure of its exact type or species but one thing is for sure, its big and i dont like it. Sitting here on the couch half asleep i swear its somewhere watching me with its beady little eyes *skin crawling*. Fight the fear i must, be at one with the beast and so a dedication, to take this creepy crawly feeling away, ode to the eight legged invader.

hip-hop halloween

zombie hip hop

‘Trick or Treat FOOL!’ would be my preferred one liner if i were a mugger or car jacker, delivered in the unmistakable tone of B Real from Cypress Hill. Kinda scary huh? Much like this spooktastic Halloween weekend in which so far i’ve seen Terence from South Park, the bride of Frankenstein and a drunk Kranky with monster hands strolling in broad daylight on the streets of Chorlton. Happy Halloween, its a bit of an ironic phrase no? Wouldn’t it make more sense to say Horrifying/Ghastly/Ghoulish Halloween?  In addition Thriller, Monster Mash and Backstreets Back are all overplayed, please shop keepers and bar owners get schooled to these other ghoulish tracks for this time of year…

serious sun and bass hangover

I luv sun and bass

It was a week and a day ago that i left the lovely island of Sardinia, the end to my Sun and Bass bliss. many a thing has happened since then, many fun and wonderful things in fact but its only now, today that im finally shaking my S&B hangover. Back to work i must go, i am not on holiday any longer…oh but for that wonderful week that we all were…big thanks as always to Stefano and crew for the stella shenanigans and gracious hosting, all bar staff and security at Ambra Day, Night and down the beach, you kept us all liquored up nicely ;)

kraak, smaak & sex education….

This is how that birds and bees talk should run!

die da, die da, die da oder die da?!?

I’d told you we’d get to Germany by the end of the day. This is the only German song i can confidently sing along with and still not really know what the hell im saying…lets hope its still big in the karaoke bars in Berlin else ill be stuck with Hasslehoff covers on a drunk night out ;) Dam this song was massive though back in the day, i remember it was always on MTV over here in the UK like 90 erm something or other, oh and there was that french guy too, what was his name again…….. ah Fabe im thinking i have to have french hip hop day at some point, that album was one of my favs back in the day, Detournement De Son!

yes mista french man whatever you say!

Saian Supa Crew are the dope shit, (though im by far superior on the playstation, Glasto ’03 FACT) if you dont know about them then please get to know,  they have been tearing up microphones for at least 12 years that i know of and have consistently kept me captivated without having had a single idea of what their on about. I think that’s the test of a good rapper, if you don’t even understand the language he’s speaking but the flow is still dope enough to keep your attention. In fact with some of the ish these rappers are calling lyrics nowadays it would be a  blessing to not have to understand whats being said…i wonder if Tinchy knows french? Anyhoo this song is ridiculous and has been in my top 10 sexy hip-hop tunes since i first heard it way back when, so many sounds, instruments, vocal tones, its just straight butter….makes me want to dance around in my underwear in front of curtainless windows with a soft light on at night, ‘ahoy there neighbor!’

do vegetables have their own language?

Or do they only make beautiful music when blown into by a human? hmmmmm only one way to find out, pass me a leek please. Oh wait, hold that vegetable i can just watch this instead ;)

high fidelity spoof (genius tour advert)

Dan le Sac, Scroobius Pip, Riz MC and Nick Frost all in this wonderful High Fidelity Spoof (if you havent seen that film, why are your reading this blog…go now), the wonders of a great idea executed to perfection….could there be an English version in the making…i’d watch it and im not really a Scroob fan, if you are though tour kicks off in October, dates in the film above.

the peace has been disturb

Itunes shuffle i salute you for waking me from my Bjork induced daydream with this.

stop for 4 mins

Breathe it in, then go about your day…

new tune out soon….

Artwork by Mark Trashynsky is finished for my feature with Mutated Forms….some people say we look like the Ghostbusters in this pic…just who in the Ghostbusters had an afro, the black guy had a skiffle mate! Anyways the single was written early this year and based on the thought process after an unknown goodbye, ‘Last Time‘ is out very soon on Allsorts, shouts to Crissy Criss for the support and of course the Mutated Lads, cant wait to work with ya’ll again  :)
