The Lazy Blogger
Yeah thats me, its been way too long and im doubting theres even one person left reading this because of my utter slackness but im not gonna lie its been a hard, mad year and its made me very lazy in terms of blogging. So much to catch up on…some might say even too much so im not gonna back track too much, more try to push things forward
Right now im in my kitchen still suffering from jet lag after an awesome week in LA. Big shouts to the Winter Fresh Crew for getting me over there and to all the faces that took me places, i particularly enjoyed driving on the wrong side of the road for the first time…not as scary as i thought it would be thanks to the perfect soundtrack provided by Backspin radio, literally every song you want to hear about Cali/LA when your drivin through it
Speaking of scary no doubt alot of you will have witnessed Strategy’s Voodoo priest get up for the terror dome anthem from DubPhisix, Skeptical & himself ‘Marka‘. Absolute salute to the Manc contingency on this one, the video which is already over 100,000 views on the tube is like an excerpt from a movie i wouldnt watch alone. Nice to see alot of support for this track which no doubt will be smacking a speaker system near you over the festive period!
In closing i obviously have to direct anyone in the Manchester area towards The Ritz tomorrow night (Monday) for Hit n Run vs Riot Jazz. Ill be jumping on for a few tunes with the RJ Brass Band ad mist a heavy line up as always ft Silkie, Drumagik and more

Euro-cultured this weekend in Manchester has as per usual a MASSIVE line-up blaring quality music rain or shine all thru the bank holiday. Looking forward to seeing the return of Jehst (who is not my postman, gutted) at Hit n Run on Monday but most excited bout the first live performance from Sleeping Giants aka Zed Bias, Fallacy & Rodney P BLAOW!!! Its a killa combo indeed, the above a little preview featuring the ever illusive Btch Pls See ya in the city this weekend….

Ballin on a Budget was crazy last night big shout to the Broke n £nglish boys n crew for a right royal knees up! Still in the dancing mood im blasting out the Deep Down & Broken podcast (thank you Nicola!) why oh why are there only 4 of them? Anyways whilst 2 stepping i found this song which has to be the perfect companion for my long lost favourite Tequila 1800. Drink it warm, in the sun with this on the speakers you’ll be far from wrong

Pulled out Jamiroquais Return Of The Space Cowboy from the CD rack this week and it hasn’t left my stereo since, such perfect music for the glorious weather and it still sounds more than relevant 17 years after its release. Definately my favourite album from Jay Kay and the lads i’d forgotten just how amazing some of the songs are; Half The Man, Mr Moon & Morning Glory!! Do not play these when your alone with me if you dont want me to jump your bones! Far to early (in the UK) for any rumpy pumpy so hows about this little beauty instead, enjoy

Love the beginning of a new week, all be it a day late thanks to the bank holiday (hope you all had a blissful one like mine Woke up to a host of new music in my inbox all set for release in the following month. Pick of the bunch has to be this ever so soft and sparse beauty from Eglo’s 1st Lady Fatima, production from Floating Points. May i suggest listening to it with a Corn Oil cocktail and a cutie close, jus to put that cherry on the cake

Manchester is repping pretty hard right now, lots of artists making some BIG moves and GREAT music, STANDARD So Mondays are now OFFICIALLY dedicated to all things musical from my city. Somewhere in my frontroom is a monster, its present location is currently unknown. This unsettles me somewhat, having met if face to face only once i cannot be to sure of its exact type or species but one thing is for sure, its big and i dont like it. Sitting here on the couch half asleep i swear its somewhere watching me with its beady little eyes *skin crawling*. Fight the fear i must, be at one with the beast and so a dedication, to take this creepy crawly feeling away, ode to the eight legged invader.

‘Trick or Treat FOOL!’ would be my preferred one liner if i were a mugger or car jacker, delivered in the unmistakable tone of B Real from Cypress Hill. Kinda scary huh? Much like this spooktastic Halloween weekend in which so far i’ve seen Terence from South Park, the bride of Frankenstein and a drunk Kranky with monster hands strolling in broad daylight on the streets of Chorlton. Happy Halloween, its a bit of an ironic phrase no? Wouldn’t it make more sense to say Horrifying/Ghastly/Ghoulish Halloween? In addition Thriller, Monster Mash and Backstreets Back are all overplayed, please shop keepers and bar owners get schooled to these other ghoulish tracks for this time of year…

Back in Germany once tonights fashion affair is over, flying into Stuttgart early morning then off to Ulm for the Soulfire sessions. Really looking forward to it especially after meeting some of the crew in Sun and Bass, looking forward to a little reunion, ha ha! It was a week and a day ago that i left the lovely island of Sardinia, the end to my Sun and Bass bliss. many a thing has happened since then, many fun and wonderful things in fact but its only now, today that im finally shaking my S&B hangover. Back to work i must go, i am not on holiday any longer…oh but for that wonderful week that we all were…big thanks as always to Stefano and crew for the stella shenanigans and gracious hosting, all bar staff and security at Ambra Day, Night and down the beach, you kept us all liquored up nicely

I’d told you we’d get to Germany by the end of the day. This is the only German song i can confidently sing along with and still not really know what the hell im saying…lets hope its still big in the karaoke bars in Berlin else ill be stuck with Hasslehoff covers on a drunk night out Dam this song was massive though back in the day, i remember it was always on MTV over here in the UK like 90 erm something or other, oh and there was that french guy too, what was his name again…….. ah Fabe im thinking i have to have french hip hop day at some point, that album was one of my favs back in the day, Detournement De Son!
