Out Now is the 80′s homage from Krystal Klear and myself Addiction on Rinse, i popped into the label HQ in East London last week to record a live version for their Rinse Sessions. Helping me out with the acoustic backing was EngineEarz/Arusha Accord guitarist Tom Hollings and JLS newest band member Jack Guppy who did an excellent job had really fun day thanks to them, Julie and the drive time crew. See how it all went down above
Not long now til Manchester family DRS drops his highly anticipated album, perfectly titled ‘I Dont Usually Like MCs But…’ in the wake of the release do not miss the album launches in London the 25th of this month and home town Manchester on the 26th, thats gonna be a long ass weekend for some people
So no Kate Bush, well no physical Bush just a primary school maths unit sculpture being constructed to a pretty horrific remix of running up that hill. Instead the closing ceremony organiser…dunno who he was he never directed any Oscar winning films…decided to put Emelie Sande on stage like 100 fucking times, love her dont get me wrong but i know i wasnt the only one going ‘Emelie again? Not Ms Dynamite, Pixie Lott (god Forbid), Adele (she was probably to expensive), Leona Lewis (hello shes international), Kate Nash (clutching at straws here) Jessie J?!? Oh no wait she was there singing how its not about the money dripping in a diamond flesh suit and riding around in a Bentley. Kudos to Annie Lennox on a Goth Pirate ship, The Spice Girls on Taxis, John Lennon & Freddie Mercury from the grave and very much so to George Michael i dont care what anyone says. Yeah the new single isnt his best and maybe should have been edited down into a verse, chorus, outro but over 23 million people in the UK alone heard it, thats some serious promotion. How anyone can have a go at him for trying to make a quick buck when the draconian Olympic Marketing restrictions (that banned the use of words such as ‘gold’ ‘summer’ and ‘games’) have prevented anyone but the official sponsors doing just that, is in my opinion kinda ridiculous. Leave the man alone, your only jealous cause he has kinky sex and still smokes pot…basically living the teenage dream, FREEDOM!
*electronic beeping sound* News just in Eastpak have come up with the insane idea of hiding £5000 cash in an Eastpak backpack over Carnival weekend somewhere in London, nutters. During September all treasure hunters registered for free via the website – insidertrail.eastpak.com will receive challenges over the course of 3 weeks that give them a chance to see parts of London they never knew and more importantly find that big bag of cash. Registration opened yesterday and there are a limited number of places so go run free and let fortune find that bag of money x
2 days before the coporate spectacle, and hey presto two new Banksys (source) nice But where are they exactly? Graffitti hunt ahoy please can anyone let me know if you find them

New from Hercules & the Love Affair . Im finding this track is making todays change of schedule even harder…i wanna be in my house, with my mic and my notes making amazing music. Royal Mail please fix up in the next hour and a half
Spending some of my halloween sunday catching up on soundcloud, loving this Mickey Smiley re-edit from Mr Johnny Miller, nice chilled tune on theme for the afternoon. Another fav after the jump is a mix from DJ Akira Ishi at the Worldwide Showcase in Tokyo, best thing is both are available to download for free
New promo video for Hurt Less by The Qemists ft my Mancunian self went up on Myspace today, love that i knew nothing about it….those guys are always surprising me, they know i love em and this track to death Album ‘Spirit In The system’ is out in August.
If you’ve missed me and my random self centered blogging let me first apologise for my absence it wasnt my fault i blame all the djs mentioned in this post. If you havent missed me then what the hell you reading this for? SHOOO! Anyways got a little hectic after last weeks bank holiday, feels like im still catching up with myself after a week of late nights north and south!
I get to wear my white Urban Nerds jumper, which doesnt really work in winter!
The beautiful voice of Jesse Boykins III might be familiar to you from his work with Theophilus London or Machine Drum , if not make sure you check out this awesome new talent making waves in NYC. This video for Amorous taken from the album Beauty Created (out now) and was filmed during his first trip to these shores, to perform his in london. Check out a lovely interview with the man himself over at PJ‘s. In the meantime can some one clarify if he’s saying ‘she’s a walrus in the chorus’….it cant be it doesnt make any sense…unless the lady in subject is huge…lol!
Hmmmmmm female prostitution, obviously a Hollywood worthy storyline (Pretty Woman, hello!) however i dont think this is gonna have quite the same impact….Danny Dyer switches it up again to play a west end uber pimp (god the reach of this mans talent is unbelievable) in the imaginatively entitled PIMP!
Spent a lovely afternoon a few weeks back in the hallowed halls of Drum & Bass Arena, met a fair few of the office crew who make up the tour de force team (and are all lovely, even the one who doesn’t speak much and is stuck in the dark corner), played a few new tracks and then did a little interview in the park down the road. Twas very nice Watch my guinness world record attempt for the most amount of words per minute, as i ramble on about my d&b history, collaborations and new album. Oh and i apologize now for the shakey Geordie accent, sorry fam! Big thanks to all the guys at Drum & Bass Arena and HAPPY 100th SHOW for tonight ya’ll
Ah that was my favorite bit from Dumbo, when he gets drunk (typical!) and even though only 1 of the elephants i saw on the South Bank was fully pink and they weren’t really on parade, London is much like that part of the movie right now.
Last Saturday i was in London via Reading performing with The Engine-Earz at the Queen Elizabeth Hall as part of the amazing Raj:Reload. The gig absolutely smashed it with the seated venue turning into what can only be called the Queen Elizabeth Dance Hall once E=E was on stage, lol, alot of fun had by all in attendance on the Southbank for some truely inspiring performances. The party carried on until the wee hours of the morning and the lovely Levant/sequester captured some classic moments from backstage and beyond, simply a dope weekend.
Loving this picture sent from Dave Refell (one of many fun people i met this weekend in Londinium!) it came with the quote ‘Cause Strawberries are made from Straw & Brie’ *giggles*
Finally a DOPE video for the ever banging Stupid from Redlight featuring Roses Gabor , vocal doesn’t make me wet but her stance in the video is ridicuolusly cool and its such a heavy track i don’t care and im diggin the UV theme Redlights carried into this video, finally a vision bigger than one single in this uk dance market! Out on Digital Soundboy very soon but i already got the instrumental…hmm me feels a bootleg vocal coming on
I have no idea what the hell this is about, but if this crowd and car climbing on Brick Lane was inspired by an American Apparel sale shop im glad i live in Manchester. In fact didn’t they also riot on Londons Oxford street when they opened Primark & IKea in Edmonton? Dam them southerners are so gully about cheap shit!
Midweek mix for your ass, or rather your ears unless of course you can hear with your rectum, which could be the subject of entirely different post…anyhoo music in the mix courtesy of Alex Nut (who is down at Fabric this Friday) these are the sounds and styles he’s feeling right now, in his own words ‘if you like cherry coke and Jim Henson then you will be feeling it too’ Listen.download.enjoy.share :0)
Thank you to Fatima and the Eglo records camp for this little beauty of a video for the track ‘Soul Glo’ taken from the Mindtravelling EP about to drop on the 22nd. Its the right blend of retro and futuristic funk to feel so now and forever if you can dig! Watch.Nod.Like.Love.Support and let your Slo Glo!
In a hardcore/rave/jungle stylee with this mix by the incredibly talented and very undersung hero of many a things and master of Ableton that is Johnny Miller. I honestly have listened to it more times than 10 thanks to a few late night session last week ehem! Enjoy (more…)
For 2 years this has been the song that rang out when Sio Nuff would call, some times i wouldn’t answer as i was to busy singing along…i regret that now shes leaving (more…)
