Its the Oscars countdown!!! MY FAVOURITE AWARDS CEREMONY ever, oh the glitz, the glam, the red carpet to end all red carpets, the fashion disasters, the ridiculous speeches (which this year the producer has threatened to cut extremely, and broadcast backstage via the web, ugh party pooper!). Standard procedure next sunday night will be firing up the Ichat with @thegiftd in NYC, discussing the trans-atlantic syncing issues with the E! channel, making sure im locked onto a working TV stream for the main show (the BBC no longer broadcasting the awards is a travesty and frankly not what i pay my license fee for), loading up the Oscar twitter feed (via E! or Oscar.com) and sitting back fingers poised to bitch my way through the ceremony, PERFECT! Preparation is simple watch all movies up for awards, including the shorts/animations and docs….routing for Rabbit A La Berlin for the latter this year obviously.  I began familiarizing myself last night and watched Nine ( Original Song, Art Direction, Costume, Supporting Actress) & The Messenger which sees Woody Harrelson nominated for Best supporting Actor, no nomination though for my long time obsession and much deserved Ben Foster… (more…)

Tour Diary – Day 7, Bochum

Leon in Second SonIts a beautiful day here in Bochum, we’ve all just arrived at the club  Zeche after a lovely morning buying crap in the small city centre of Bochum, big up to the first Starbucks of the tour, bliss!

Im sat back stage whilst Enter are sound-checking my favourite song Juggernaut, i keep waking up singing this bitch seriously the choon is the shizzle! Has also been first day with the Shikari crew after our riot bonding sesh in Brussels, has been some jokes this afternoon i tell thee.Anyways here goes tour diary day 7, which by the way was another day off here in the bountiful Bochum!

After an amazing day n night in Brussels (where im sure the ankle first began to hurt) we headed on over the border to Bochum, which we all thought was in Poland but is actually in Germany, go figure genius’s! On route we watched Chopper as we finally had the dvd player working, all it took was a little slap and a poke from Timmy two dinners, he the man!

So Bochum….is interesting, our first experience of a Formula One hotel aka swingers town! This hotel was my worst nightmare for real, bunk beds, communal toilets (VD’S) and showers (verruca’s), with red and green lights over head…like that was suppose to be cute, in my first 30 mins in the hotel i seen 4 men roaming the corridor in their undies, very tight white undies and they weren’t even fit!! Ode to Cultronica 2008

Cultronica Festival 2009 from Jenna G on Vimeo.

How long does it take me to make a video nowadays? Cultronica happened way back in December 08, the month where my feet never touched the ground. It was a 2 day festival in a quiet little town called Braganca featuring artists from all over Portugal. I had a mad fun that weekend, even if i was the only female act, it was freezing cold and i didn’t speak any Portuguese, ha ha the 1 euro shots and amazing talent made up for it all! Big massive respect to Luis for the invite, DJ Oder for the dubplates and all the rest of the fellas that looked after me so well, hope you enjoy what i did in this little film :)

Blu Mar Ten – If i could tell you

I dont know why all of a sudden im obsessed by this mans music but i am. Really like his choice of film footage for his youtube videos, brilliant break from the norm of dnb track visuals. This song for the day in particular is haunting me at the moment, im tryin to place the vocal sample ‘I will not ever try to hurt you‘, where the hell is that from its so familiar and such a beautiful melody. Im daydreaming to this one, hope you do to…

Channel Two ft N’fa – Universal King

I know i know, i’ve posted this before and not to long ago but me nah care! I thinks its a perfect song for the day seeing as the infamous himself woke me up this morning (11.54 technically it was morning, yes the first time this week!) and forced me to… (more…)

The gayest Oscars?

That’s what their saying and while i think its silly to suggest the politically incorrect theme ran through out the whole event, looking back i can’t help but agree. Jay’s Glamostrator, Mickeys RIP Lowki trinket, the peer on peer loving in nominations, Harry’s insanely high pitched interviewing technique and all the points raised when reading Gawker today! Their Top 10 is spot on with my own personal highlights of the event except the order and one little faux pas, they missed out the dude that came on after the Ledger Family tear-jerker of an acceptance speech. I cant find it anywhere online yet so i actually might have been the only one who laughed out of shock and cringed at the audacity of his terrible sense of humor!

‘Wow, the whole place is in tears and im up next!’

LMFAO, so inappropriate but 10 points for effort Mr. I also most definately would have put Pineapple Express ripping The Reader nearer the top the whole skit was genius!!

A Thousand Words

A Thousand Words from Ted Chung on Vimeo.

One of the popular choices last week on Vimeo, this short film by Ted Chung got me all choked up with its totally romantic storyline. Shot beautifully in black & white with no dialogue this picture (apart from making me miss my digital camera, hurry up fixer man!!) definately speaks a Thousand Words.

Making the video!

Making the video – The Qemists On The Run ft Jenna G from Jenna G on Vimeo.

OK so im probably doing this the wrong way round but im not bothered… Friday saw the final version of the ‘On the run’ video hit the internet… Heres what went on behind the scenes on the day….ok not everything cause im protecting the innocent but still its a fun lil snapshot of our Monday at the transgender safehouse known as The Little Marlborough!!

Home blud?

Less than 12 hours and im on a plane back home to blighty….definately sad to be leaving the winter sun and Aussie attitude behind. Thinking about all the things that make me smile about my little island in the freezing cold to make the trip home less stressfull…this always gets me going, thank you Regatta & Rabbi for showing me this one :P

Films on the Plane

So you would hope that any airline flying passengers for over 10 hours would have decent inflight entertainment and Singapore airlines do not disappoint… I watched so many film i wouldn’t have even give the time of day on land, all of which were pretty amazing. I implore you  (if your a film lover) to go and see these flicks if you already haven’t… First up Hellboy 2…i know i haven’t even seen number one but i love the director Guillermo del Toro (i can’t wait for The Hobbit movie), his style and detail are jaw dropping (Pans Labyrinth) as well as his constant connection to earth and nature regardless of the topic of the film! The angel of death in Hellboy is gorgeous and i’ve never wanted a fan shaped forehead made of bone so much in all my life!! LOL a little more action next from Jolie, Mcavoy (Shameless) and Freeman…Wanted was the all out action, assasin, ‘break Mcavoy in the US’ movie from the beginning of 2008, loose story line but amazing action scenes and including a lovely role for BBC’s Hustles’ Marc Warren (go on england!!) Death Defying Acts – CZJ & Guy Pierce take on Houdini’s physic challenge…some amazing performances in this especially from Saoirse Ronan (the annoying little chick from that flick with Mcavoy and Knightly)…again never would have got this on dvd but it is definately worth a watch… Der Freund – German and complex like the best of them are, this film is really amazing….slow calculated and heart wrenching , you would be lying if you said you couldn’t identify with at least one of roles! I dipped in and out of a host of others mostly martial arts,  but im saving them for the journey home!! Cant wait to see Chocolate (female On Bak)..going home will much fun, that chica can kick mad ass!

Merry Chrimbo :)

International love returned…

Got part 2 of my own video diary still to come, following our adventures in Caracas….Back in Argentina though DJ Orange and his +160 crew were putting together this lil taster of a fantastic night, i crack myself up at the beginning…listen to me freestyle about needing a drink!! Big up to all in attendance, Wheeler, Omik and the accelerated sounds of +160 :P

Vaughn loves that christmas cash

It was a year ago next week that i was at Claridges in London for the Fred Claus press junket. I never seen the movie, it looked terrible Vince Vaughn starred as the trouble some brother of one my favourite actors Paul Giamatti who played Santa Claus (sooooooo beneath him). It also had Ludacris as a elf and the kid from Idlewild in it, hence 1X’s interest. Anyways I didn’t pull the short straw of interviewing Vince (who incidentally got paid £20 million for the role), so i couldn’t tell you how genuine he is. Im thinking though its not that genuine thanks to his return in another crappy movie this season, Four Christmas’s. Starring Reese (cheesy chick flick don) Witherspoon, Jon Voight and some others it tells the tale of a couple spending christmas with their divorced parents…Hollywood reality YAWN, wonder how much they all got paid for this monstrosity. Go see at your peril :)

Some DvD Justice!

Justice – A Cross The Universe – Trailer from INDUSTREATE on Vimeo.

I want to see this now, like yesterday even….one of my favourite albums of 2007 didn’t see them live but in every car and bedroom i played it in, it was going off!  Documentary includes cameos from Antony Kedis, the pair shopping for million dollar houses and my personal fav, Xavier & Gaspard kissing :)

DVD ‘Across the Universe‘ is out 24th November with a live CD mixed by Ed Banger, ill see you at the front of the queue!

Thanks to Trash Menagerie :)

Its a whole new world…..

Wow i can’t f**kin believe it, he won, he won! History just happened and i watched it!! OMG OMG this is the first thing that came to mind…i know its disney but its perfect, just like his speech, the campaign, the votes, the whole evening, THANK YOU AMERICA!!

Bond or Bourne?

Old debate which has took me a while to make my mind up on… Still half and half really, its a close call, their both secret goverment agents that flout rules and international laws to get their man or woman. Bond gets way more action…as in between the sheets. In a fist fight i think Bourne would take the pre 00’s Bond all day long, but Daniel Craig ain’t taken no shorts though in the recent 007 flicks making me lean on a whole towards Bond as the badder man. Not bad meaning bad but of course bad meaning good…but who do you thinks the baddest?

Watching paint dry.

Its taking forever!
Last week i got me an IMac, its gorgeous, shes’s gorgeous and i couldn’t wait to get her home and fill her full off wonderful apps that i could play with. Being as thrifty as i can i decided to partake in a little file-sharing to boost the apps i already owned. Got down with torrents, opened me ports and followed the links…BOOM! I was in business, that was until Ilife 08…It was supposed to come with the Mac but it didn’t, long story but it doesn’t matter. So i follow the link and drop the torrent into Transmission…cut to 3 days later im still watching the f***er download and its only jus half way!! Theres absolutely nothing i can do that i haven’t already tried to make this thing go faster and so i find my self sat in front of the screen, in the wee hours of the morning willing the DL speed to stay at 80k. My pirate obsession has turned me into some Gollum like creature lit dimly by 20inches of beautiful flat screen, hissing for my precious to complete, i guess that is the price i pay!

The Bollywood Harry Potter!

Hari Puttar a comedy of terrors…

Who ever thought of this is a f**king genius..the fact that Warner couldn’t even bring a court case against it is classic! Hari Puttar is the story of a young boy from India who moves to England and becomes involved in a plan to save the world….sound familiar? A high court didn’t seem to think so meaning this genius piece of Bollywood cinematic ripping is getting released in India at the end of the month…i’ll be ovguide-ing this v soon ;)
