another amazing night ;)
If you read this blog often you’ll know im a big massive huge fan of Buenos Aires premiere dnb night +160 and its legendary promoter/DJ Bad Boy Orange . Can honestly say one of my favourite places in the world to play alongside W10′s Danny Wheeler of course, the vibe, the people, the club, the city are simply cosmic
Heres a little sample of our second trip down to BA in Dec 2009 courtesy of D-ART and featuring VJ-Gi. Thanks so much to the Bad Boy for the link to this it makes me smile remembering such a good time
If you like it then you shoulda put a stick in it
This week on Twitter there has been some serious feminine appreciation, you could even say gyal crushing after becoming distantly aquainted with an LA based chica named Creation Cave after a very helpful tweet about fashion, we #ff’d each other and now im giving her some blog love for her brand new dopely titled Lovesicles blog all about her love for, you guessed it, popsicles. As the blog tagline reads: ‘If you like it then you shoulda put a stick in it!’ need i say more? Read.bookmark.crush but remember i seen her first!

Shuffling to my hearts content as always whilst listening to music on my Itunes, love it when it chucks in something I haven’t heard in a while. There are many reasons that might explain why this song has been in my head since the weekend the fumes from my fire, the bottle of Appletons, my dwindling stock of Jennarous Cheese, a certain someone, finding a picture of me and Miss Halelovic …..anyhoo 2 mornings i’ve woken up with this song in my head….. What a perfect song and an even more perfect artist to find on such a perfect day. Fresh out of London town Speech Debelle is turning the sunset in my back garden into a rustic faraway scene. Muh Muh Monday Mixtape – The Steppahs
Two weeks ago i was en route to Japan, waiting outside terminal 2 at Heathrow and this mix came on my Itunes shuffle. Labeled with a name i’d never heard before, i was at a loss as to how it came to be on my playlist and who it was by. Tune after tune had me bopping and skanking outside Costa (in a incognito way as i was on my own and waiting for the rest of the troops to arrive), i even hollered rewind at one point completely forgetting where i was. I blasted this mix everywhere i went in Japan, walked in a bad man stylee with it through Shibuya, Twittered about it from my hotel in Osaka, leaked it from my headphones on the Bullet train, i honestly couldn’t get enough. I trust this will have the same effect on you, play it loud and proud whilst travelling to school, college, work or ya mamas house! The Muh Muh Monday Mixtape from the glorious Manchester representa’s The Steppahs.

Song for the day – Micachu
Curly Teeth – Micachu & The Shapes
Where did i even find this again? I honestly cant remember but i might have heard it on 6music which plays constantly in my kitchen when im home
Mica Levi is the singer and song-writer with a keen ear and a natural talent for music, check out more of her stuff for hoovers as instruments….DOPE! Curly Teeth chinks like china and flows smoothly in a jingle-jangled tone. I think the person knitted my over-sized art house jumper listened to this whilst getting her hair cut in an asymmetrical ‘i just got out of bed’ stylee, RAD!
Enjoy

Esperanza Spalding – Wow!!
Just found out about an amazing singer & bassist with the coolest name as well as a fro to die for! Esperanza Spalding hails from Portland Oregon USA and has been touted as the hope for the future of jazz music which is a very big ask for such a dainty looking 23 year old. Listening to her music or watchin her perform soon clears up any doubt though, this fly chica is uber talented and so mesmerizing to watch. I’ve never seen a singing ‘stand up bass’ player especially one so Black Panther styled as the fabulous Esperanza, whose passion and dedication to the genre is shown by such an awesome talent. Her self titled album came out last May, my favourites so far ‘Fall In‘, ‘She Got to You‘ and ‘I Adore‘ which is bumping in the background right now. If you like ya jazz your gonna love you some Esperanza Spalding *clicks fingers* and if your in Europe shes touring there right now you lucky things….just not in the UK
Hanging with boys

Most of my life has been spent hanging out with boys, this is probably due to the fact I’ve been involved in underground music one way or another since I was 14, hanging out in studios and pirate radio stations girls were always the minority… (more…)
Up and coming?
[audio:Don't Hold Me Back.mp3] Don’t Hold Me Back
Since my departure from 1Xtra i havent had an oppourtunity to listen to all the fresh music i would usually get sent in the post by unsigned artists from across the UK. However those artists that know my email (its on myspace – HOLLA) have kept in touch when eva they have something fresh which i love and encourage ya’ll to keep on doing. So im without a show but with a blog and without genre limitations so i can play and support whoever i like. Step up V Double E repping for the ladies on the MIC and a Jenna G fan *blush* (she even has picture of me under influences on her myspace page), hailing from South East London this lady started mc’ing in 2005 to drum n bass and went on to a residency at Fizzy Wednesdays in London from 2006 onwards. Big tings have happened over the past 12 months including getting all the way to the semis on T4′s Musicool, performing at Oxjam, a tour of Israel and a new direction music wise. Vee always keeps in touch and sent me her brand new track a few weeks back, which is featured in this weeks 1Xtra’s Homegrown Podcast but just incase you aint into that podcast malarky have a listen to it up there! Up and coming? Well as hard as she works i think the only way is up for this lady!
