The last time my Dad took me to a concert i was about 6, we went to see Huey Lewis and the News at the M/cr Apollo. We were 7 rows from the front and i got took to the front by security and guitar solo serenaded by Chris Hayes , swoon. In fact wait that wasn’t the last time i just remembered he took me to see Extreme at the Gmex on their Pornograffiti tour when i was 8 or 9, no serenades but Mr Bettencourt i know you were playin just for me! ‘More than Words’ remember that track? PGL banger back in the day if you dont know, your not old enough. Anyways I digress. Last night me and Da were back out at the Apollo for Thin Lizzy, the reunion tour. (more…)
One thing that always baffles me about gigs i do is the amount of pictures/videos people look like their taking. What happens to them afterwards, i always wonder, as only a handful trickle down through facebook and the like. In particular my past tour in South America had the most amount of people in all 5 gigs waving cameras in the air (or standing still whilst achieve perfect framing) whilst i was performing…my questions is where did all the evidence go? In particular i request the help of my Santiago homies to find the Photographer (or videographer as he is in the above shot) with the red jumper and black A’s hat in the centre of the above picture, taken by Manuel de Fierro at Caja De Ritmos.. he was taking pictures of me at the sound check and then through out the night, very curious as to what exactly he was doing…. Any way easier to find and with awesome results i must link up the rest of the galleries from the people who took the time to upload their shots of all the action, Fede Welbe @ +160, Black Magic Sounds Venezuela and of course all the Sub Grave Sao Paulo crew
Kim Wilde is alive and singing in Wurzburg at the age of 40 something, well at least last saturday she was to over 4 thousand people…a crowd somewhat bigger than mine at the Soulmotion party downstairs in the Posthalle, however the dnb crowd had WAY more taste! My first time in the north of the south of Germany was marred by a bout of food poisoning, so although the gig went well, the party was fun and the crowd enjoyed it, i didnt drink or get involved with the dancefloor in anyway after my performance, which is not how i like to get down. Not in a good mood today, the ankle is pissing me off and the codeine has worn off severely, have made the decision to drink instead of drug the pain away thanks to yesterdays shenanigans! Slept in the cot for most of journey from Cologne, im thinking until im better its the only comfortable place to be in the van with my leg up!
Quite a mellow evening apart from my twitter apology from Rory for calling me a bitch and the gig in which we changed up the set a little and got another killer reaction from the crowd. Its mad fun playing for Shikari fans their well up for new music the merch is selling and everybody’s happy at the end of the night! I would have liked to go out and explore what this city had to offer but walking isnt the easiest right now and i have to be able to jump around for half an hour every evening onstage which means foot up whenever im off..
The gig tonight was hell of good, bit of a weird one the crowd were all 16 or under…which definately put a kibosh on the crowd socializing, to be honest the dudes weren’t really that hot (they were 16 come on!) but if i was a dude and 16 the girl in the New Era would have got it…. (more…)
