im taking you out bitch!

And i dont mean to a movie! OOoooh it only took a year to make but this video was so worth the wait, witness men turn to women, flutes as weapons, Huw Stephens and me acting aggy (once again) and being dragged out of a club in this video for Fray from Nerm & D-Code ft Orifice Vulgatron (Foreign Beggars).

Remix from NSG can be found here Fray is the next single from the album Phasmatis In Machina!

idris vs cotton

Never really watch TV when im at home, im a believer the box is a form of mind control and was much better back in the day, so i try to keep my box habits to a minimum. I wasnt always this way however  since curbing my TV habit i find now that when i sit and idly watch it for too long it makes me ridiculously angry, the adverts talk to me at times like im stupid and theres only a handful of presenters that anyone wants to use that all fit the generic social demographics. Having been down at my sisters for the bank holiday in total relax mode i slipped last night and began channel surfing after Enders (my only one TV weakness) to find something to pass the time until BBC’s new drama Luther (come on Idris Elba how could i say no to that!) and found myself watching Fearne Cotton interviewing Peaches Geldof on ITV2…..i think they were repeating it or something as im sure this series aired ages ago and i purposely missed it, however in holiday mode and in a positive frame of mind i decided to see what all the fuss was about. save 6music/plastic people/our soul

When i left London & 1Xtra in 2008 i stopped tuning into the station that had been my home for 4 years cause by then i was totally hooked on 6music. Every weekday morning with George Lamb was the best, so funny and always with an amazing selection of tracks old and new, it was on his show that i heard Major Lazer – Pon the Floor for the first time, in fact i believe the track was playlisted on the station long before the obvious followed. I still cant believe George is gone, love whats her face as well, but his show was my second favourite of all time after Russell Brands old BBC2 programme (i still have some podcasts, which i cherish dearly!) my third being Theme Hour with Bob Dylan (which is also no more……), but wait the BBC now wants to take 6music from me altogether?! In the words of Hitler – NEIN NEIN NEIN NEIN NEIN NEIN! What the hell is going on with everyone at the moment? First Plastic People & now this, i dont understand there are so many other BBC services that could be cut instead, as Mr Paxman quite clearly points out in this very amusing video… (more…)

id like to foster ben

Its the Oscars countdown!!! MY FAVOURITE AWARDS CEREMONY ever, oh the glitz, the glam, the red carpet to end all red carpets, the fashion disasters, the ridiculous speeches (which this year the producer has threatened to cut extremely, and broadcast backstage via the web, ugh party pooper!). Standard procedure next sunday night will be firing up the Ichat with @thegiftd in NYC, discussing the trans-atlantic syncing issues with the E! channel, making sure im locked onto a working TV stream for the main show (the BBC no longer broadcasting the awards is a travesty and frankly not what i pay my license fee for), loading up the Oscar twitter feed (via E! or Oscar.com) and sitting back fingers poised to bitch my way through the ceremony, PERFECT! Preparation is simple watch all movies up for awards, including the shorts/animations and docs….routing for Rabbit A La Berlin for the latter this year obviously.  I began familiarizing myself last night and watched Nine ( Original Song, Art Direction, Costume, Supporting Actress) & The Messenger which sees Woody Harrelson nominated for Best supporting Actor, no nomination though for my long time obsession and much deserved Ben Foster… (more…)

Cassette Boy vs Nick Griffin vs Question Time

question time

Politics got more ugly than usual this week as Nick Griffin chairman of the British National Party (by the way that is not a link to their website) took part in BBC’s Question Time. His time on air was spent stuttering responses, smirking when talking of the holocoust, using erroneous historical statements and generally not coming across very well when faced with the publics scrutiny on his party and their policies. If you haven’t already watched it i can’t recommend it enough, dont believe the hype find out for yourself. (more…)

Missed a brilliant documentary!

My Best Friends Murder

Just realised what an idiot i am, i missed an awesome documentary on BBC3 ‘My Best Friends Murder‘ to which i did the voice-over a few months back. Thank you to Keaton and Nesta for reminding me it was on TV, i was hopin to catch it on the BBC IPlayer this afternoon and then blog the link but you can’t watch it online any more, this morning was also the last time it was broadcast on BBC3 :( Boo, i didn’t get to watch the documentary when i did the V.O. and was really looking forward to hearing the full story, the footage and brief sections i saw were very compelling and the issue one very close to my heart. Hopefully they will broadcast it again sometime in the future… just hope i don’t miss it again :P

Jenna G x Top Nine Bboys

Yesterday i was hanging with the Bboy World ChampionsTop Nine‘ all the way from Russia courtesy of BBC Blast ‘Behind the Scenes’. They were in London to perform their brand new show Accents, at Riverside Studios this evening. Wow, this show is amazing, its tells the history of music through dance, break dancing and b-boying to be precise. Chatting with the lads before and after their performance it was obvious how much passion they have for what they do, regardless of not being able to speak english very well the interviews were really engaging and taught me a hell of a lot interms of technique…i can lead anyone down the verbal path to create specific content for a show, however trying to do this without english as a common language was a challenge…Plus sides…the accent was sex in audio, seriously i think i need to marry a Russian :) I digress the crew are mad talented, having choreographed, scored and managed the whole fabulous performance themselves, taking influences from areas very much outside of the Bboying genre. My only criticism was that it was way too short, i could have watched them dance all night. Shouts to the Behind the Scenes crew, make-up master Mayu and of course the whole Top Nine crew….Fly Boy Robin (should have been fine boy!), Kosto (number one b-boy), Wolt (what a body), Komar (Skinnymans Russian double), Flying Buddah (12 packed shorty), Simpson (natural blonde), Rezky (in spirit) and Tony Rock (the mouth). Thanks for a dope day and the lil peace of Russia you brought with ya…didn’t they hear what happened to Ghostface LOL!!! Looking forward to getting my drink on amongst other thing with em next time im in St Petersburg! Watch out for the Behind the Scenes with Top Nine on BBC Blast website in the new year!

Riding on the coat-tails of cock-ups!

Russell Brand talks to 1Xtra’s Jenna G from BBC 1Xtra on Vimeo.

Ooops they did it again and have spent most of the week splashed over most of the UK’s press. 10,000 complaints all because Russell Brand rogered Manuel from Fawlty Towers grand-daughter and Johnathan Ross told him and anyone else tuned in, exactly that on an answering machine during a prerecorded show Radio 2….standards slipping or is every body blowing this way out of proportion? Hmmmm….keeping my nose clean (like so many other bloggers) by not commenting…One thing that did come to mind though is how close to home this how spectacle actually is, …of course i work for the BBC and every weekend morning, in Starbucks for the past few years i have drank coffee with Johnathans’ producer, at the last BBC event i went to i met Andrew Sachs (Manuel) who is adorable and Mr Brand the elloquent long haired LA’d lethario are closer than most thanks to 1Xtra moving temporarily to 6Music studios and this little interview from his first Hollywood film released early this year….and before you say anything yes i am shamelessly catching a ride on the beebs coat-tails with old footage,  whilst googling the topic is at an all time high, i aint no fool fool!

Random product placement…Alesha Nooooooooooo!

WTF is this?? No seriously, this was posted on youtube in January, why have i never heard anyone mention it? Better yet why didn’t i see this, surely Ford spent alot of cash on this, im hoping it took a lot cash and not just the bait car to get Alesha to agree to this ‘Bill n Ted’s Bogus Journey‘ inspired piece of music video bewilderment. The tune isn’t bad but the mix is terrible, the lyrics are lovely but what the f**k has it got to do with a personalized license plate, she is talking about the car right? Why else would it be parked up behind her in every other shot! Question…how cool does a small orchestra look in a garage huddled round a Ford? Answers in the comments section please.

Now dont get me wrong, im a lover not a fighter and i also have the maximum respect for Ms Dixon (formerly of Mis-teeq). She is the nicest person, so down to earth and street chic, ridiculously (more…)
