serato icon series

‘The Icon Artist Series is a diverse, hand-picked collection of artists who represent and epitomise the Serato ethos’

Its great to hear musicians you admire that make music you love talk about the makings of that music and what it means to them as a whole. The Icon series delivered just that for me with episode 2 which featured Erykah Badu and they’ve done it again with number 4,  The Gaslamp Killer, i dare you to watch it and not head nod vigorously, i felt so pumped after it!

Is there anything this man doesn’t do?

Dali-Mustache-by-Philippe-Halsman-20

Its mid week Wednesday, so why not champion weird and wonderful, and think positivly! Lets do it all at the same time by watching the master of surrealism Salvidor Dali from the 50′s TV show   ‘Whats my line?’ I swear this cracks me up everytime, you see the panel have to ask yes or no questions to decipher what his profession is, however Dali can answer yes to nearly all of them,  ‘is there anything this man doesn’t do’?! So inspired by Mr Dali and some PMA from yesterdays social networking im going about the day with a big YES. Just dont ask to borrow any money ya spoil sports ;)

and so it begins

The UK is sooooo hot right now, the world is waiting for the next big thing and everybody on this island is having a bash at it! Am surprised to see DJ Manny Norte throwing his two decks in the mix, its been longtime me nah see ya breadbin! Im not taking the piss but i cant help but laugh whilst watching this he’s doing that whole 90′s producer in a video thing, its hard to take him seriously…however the years of training he’s had behind the decks and in the scene he’s got the diddy pose well and truely locked! J2K and Dready complete the line-up for the single ‘Breakin all the rules’ which is out now in the UK (at Tescos apparently, genius Manny just genius!).

Back in college before changing my course to music i was studying AV design which included 3 months immersed in the world of cubism which fascinated me. Up and coming?

Don’t Hold Me Back

Since my departure from 1Xtra i havent had an oppourtunity to listen to all the fresh music i would usually get sent in the post by unsigned artists from across the UK. However those artists that know my email (its on myspace – HOLLA) have kept in touch when eva they have something fresh which i love and encourage ya’ll to keep on doing. So im without a show but with a blog and without genre limitations so i can play and support whoever i like. Step up V Double E repping for the ladies on the MIC and a Jenna G fan *blush* (she even has picture of me under influences on her myspace page), hailing from South East London this lady started mc’ing in 2005 to drum n bass and went on to a residency at Fizzy Wednesdays in London from 2006 onwards. Big tings have happened over the past 12 months including getting all the way to the semis on T4′s Musicool, performing at Oxjam, a tour of Israel and a new direction music wise. Vee always keeps in touch and sent me her brand new track a few weeks back, which is featured in this weeks 1Xtra’s Homegrown Podcast but just incase you aint into that podcast malarky have a listen to it up there! Up and coming? Well as hard as she works i think the only way is up for this lady!
