HussainDeyn x Nylon
Just started reading Nylon last year, picked up copies in Oz and the US, instantly hooked by its broad coverage of fashion, art and music in its electic and kooky style. So dope then to see some Manny representaton in there from HussainDeyn. Emily (Deyn) and i met on the set of The Shapeshifters video shoot for New Day, a far cry from the epi centre of cool in which she now resides. Alongside her partner in art crime they have tittilated my senses since moving back to Manchester (where they met at Uni) with such projects as Combination of Space and Zone me, Zone you amongst others. Moving swiftly on to the t-shirt game im all about getting my hands on one of these little beauties from their latest project Long May She Reign which debuted at the Anna Sui NYC fashion week show. Have to agree with the girls, Queen Liz is totally the original G, shame about the rest of the clan!

Back from an amazing weekend in Portugal, Braganca to be exact. A small town in the north of the country with a castle, state of the art theatre and the best bar that stays open late and serves shots of anything for one Euro! In between the cheap drinking there was a host of artists brought in from all over POrtugal, to do their thing for the local crowd. Some were so amazing i had to give them some props for making my weekend very interesting!! (more…)

Sorry to upset you and the rest of the Kanye knob jockeys but im sooooo over this dude right now…The latest 808 & Heartbreaks is an addition to his plagiarism of non-american art/music culture from the past 30 years and even worse eveyone is lapping it up AGAIN like he was the second coming. ‘Art rocks’, ‘contemporary is cool’, ‘alternative rap is the real hip-hop’…NO HIP-HOP WAS ALWAYS THIS COOL, MAIN STREAM JUST FORCE FED YOU FIFTY CENT EFFIGIES UNTIL YOU FORGOT HOW MUCH OF AN ART MOVEMENT HIP-HOP ALREADY WAS!!!

Wow, im in awe and inspired to get out my felt tips and biros…such beautiful sketch work, looks kidlike at times and Gaudi-esque at others, amazing! Just seen the Saw poster yesterday which struck the living fear of god into me, so weird to discover Oushka as Artist of the Week the very next day who drew the inspiration for the poster…Picked out my favourites from the post over at C’est La Vie where you can check out the rest at your leisure.
