more sande me thinks

So no Kate Bush, well no physical Bush just a primary school maths unit sculpture being constructed to a pretty horrific remix of running up that hill. Instead the closing ceremony organiser…dunno who he was he never directed any Oscar winning films…decided to put Emelie Sande on stage like 100 fucking times, love her dont get me wrong but i know i wasnt the only one going ‘Emelie again? Not Ms Dynamite, Pixie Lott (god Forbid), Adele (she was probably to expensive), Leona Lewis (hello shes international), Kate Nash (clutching at straws here) Jessie J?!? Oh no wait she was there singing how its not about the money dripping in a diamond flesh suit and riding around in a Bentley. Kudos to Annie Lennox on a Goth Pirate ship, The Spice Girls on Taxis, John Lennon & Freddie Mercury from the grave and very much so to George Michael i dont care what anyone says. Yeah the new single isnt his best and maybe should have been edited down into a verse, chorus, outro but over 23 million people in the UK alone heard it, thats some serious promotion. How anyone can have a go at him for trying to make a quick buck when the draconian Olympic Marketing restrictions (that banned the use of words such as ‘gold’ ‘summer’ and ‘games’) have prevented anyone but the official sponsors doing just that, is in my opinion kinda ridiculous. Leave the man alone, your only jealous cause he has kinky sex and still smokes pot…basically living the teenage dream, FREEDOM!

heavy rotation

Set to drop in August probably the most anticipated DnB album this year from MC veteran DRS ’I Dont Usually Like Mcs. But’ landed in my inbox last week and honestly i havent listened to much else since. So many amazing tracks, artists and producers on such an accomplished debut, im humbled to know him and to be a part of it. Currently the busiest MC from Manchester im guessin his bookings are gonna be out of control once this hits the shops! Avaliable now the singles Count to Ten ft Enei and Holding On ft Riya & Jehst are an epic slice of whats to come. Big up to all involved, raising a glass to your success xx

oddbins vs the olympics

This has to be the funniest thing ive heard so far in the lead up to the games, Oddbins are launching a ‘marketing counter strike’ aimed at the draconian and quite absurdly harsh Olympic Branding laws which has stopped businesses in the capital and across the nation that aren’t official sponsors profiting from the games, banning the use of words such as “gold”, “Games”, “2012″, “summer” and “London” in any of their promotions. Ridiculous right? So Oddbins is offering a massive 30% discount to any of their customers who kit themselves out in branding rivals to the LOCOG main sponsors. Turn up in a pair of Nike trainers, with a set of Vauxhall car keys, an RBS MasterCard, an iPhone, a bill from British Gas and a receipt for a Pepsi bought at KFC and you will receive 30 per cent off your purchase! two weeks to go!!

The countdown begins, NZ im more than ready to see ya’ll!

Out with me Da!

The last time my Dad took me to a concert i was about 6, we went to see Huey Lewis and the News at the M/cr Apollo. We were 7 rows from the front and i got took to the front by security and guitar solo serenaded by Chris Hayes , swoon. In fact wait that wasn’t the last time i just remembered he took me to see Extreme at the Gmex on their Pornograffiti tour when i was 8 or 9, no serenades but Mr Bettencourt i know you were playin just for me! ‘More than Words’ remember that track? PGL banger back in the day if you dont know, your not old enough. Anyways I digress. Last night me and Da were back out at the Apollo for Thin Lizzy, the reunion tour. (more…)

PS Vita Launch M/cr

Do people still play handheld consoles that arent a smartphone or ipad? Sony says yes and celebrates with an official launch party…somehow i got invited (If i hadnt off i would’ve been pissed…danke Mr Reason x) and so a few weeks back i ate mini canapes and swilled free booze whilst listening to Tim Westwood play 30 secs of every club banger i’ve ever known and spotting premiership footballers. From what i can remember it was a lot of fun indeed. Thank you PS Vita, thank you Rich Reason, thank you Manchester always a big turn out when there’s free grog up for grabs :) Pics after the jump…

Im not hating but…

Leona Lewis’s performance on the Olympic closing ceremony was pretty shabby in my humble opinion. Im not denying shes stunning and has the most amazing voice of an angel. Im not saying that she shouldn’t have been singing with the ever amazing Jimmy Paige to represent how Great Britain is…im just thinking out loud that it wouldnt have made any difference if she hadn’t of been there at all. The PA mix on BBC was shockingly quiet and her stage presence equalled ZERO which made the barely audible million dollar performance quite boring to watch. Even emerging from the Transformer London bus atop the 40ft podium couldn’t save her, lucky she had a 50 foot long shiny gown or she would have been barely noticeable! Was it just me that wanted her to head bang when Jimmy did his solo, drop to her knees and worship the guitar before her? Throw that gorgeous mane around with wild child abandonment, maybe a little leg kick and fake air bass? Curl back that pristine pout and squeal with the desire a  ‘Whole lotta love’ deserves?!? Needless to say they’ll be a fantastic mix of this somewhere for you to download soon, but i seen it live baby and it wasn’t as good as it could have been.
