Little sneaky peak at want went on in the sweat box also known as K Club in Sao Paulo, seriously it was the hottest i’ve ever been on stage….dont let the fan fool you it was spitting out hot air, next time i suggest a pool party in bikinis and obviously without the pool!!!!! Big shouts to the crowd who were amazing and of course, DJ Andy for getting me over there and showing me the real Sao Paulo and all the Subgrave crew, cant wait to come back
Found this lovely video on Vimeo from the fellas in Santiago, featurng Dj Die and my Zumba raving partner in Chile (he’s the guy in the white tshirt, aaaaahhh you the bomb and im drinking my wine as i type…perfecto amigo ;p) Hopefully will get to see some footage from last Fridays gig soon, in the meantime this is a nice lickle reminder of a few new faces n places i’ve grown fond of this tour
Im knackered but wide awake with nervous energy, kinda how i’ve been feeling since landing on this awesome continent Monday morning. Straight to the beach with Omar from the airport through the worl of Caracas traffic via Valencia to make my yearly pilgrimage to Maracoy where one day i hope to own a house with a boat, (somewhere in the distance of the above picture) your all welcome to visit and we can spend the days cruising round the islands stopping off at the most secluded beaches eating areapas with cheese and drinking beer in the sun! BLISS just remember the mosi repellant and rizla! (more…)
According to the Babelands Briefs email i found in my inbox this morning, the above is better than chocolate and the answer to a sizzling long distance romance. Personally this news has come a little to late in the day however it seems you can hook this up to your Skype and it will react to the sound of your lovers voice, you can also plug it into your music player to be fondled by the bass n drums in ya playlist, ha haha. This is a feature i’ve heard of before, so i dont know why the whole addition of its Skype compatibility makes me feel uncomfortable about the whole thing….any one out there agree/disagree, gonna get it/already has it to end the long distance agony?
Spending some of my halloween sunday catching up on soundcloud, loving this Mickey Smiley re-edit from Mr Johnny Miller, nice chilled tune on theme for the afternoon. Another fav after the jump is a mix from DJ Akira Ishi at the Worldwide Showcase in Tokyo, best thing is both are available to download for free
Maceo Parker is starting the nights preparations in my flat, Stereo 33 then who knows ce soir for my final Saturday in Berlin! Check the breakdown at around 5.40 for some serious funky drummer appreciation! J double T on a swarm innit
Sesame Street had the right idea teaching with music its fun much like this video which is most helpful as it teaches you German. Handy when like me your living in Berlin for a month…Its also highly appropriate as i’ve been the last one one on the dance floor at a few nights this week, slurring loudly ‘nah man, i dont want to go i havent finished dancing’! SHouts to JeSuS for the link, enjoy
Kim Wilde is alive and singing in Wurzburg at the age of 40 something, well at least last saturday she was to over 4 thousand people…a crowd somewhat bigger than mine at the Soulmotion party downstairs in the Posthalle, however the dnb crowd had WAY more taste! My first time in the north of the south of Germany was marred by a bout of food poisoning, so although the gig went well, the party was fun and the crowd enjoyed it, i didnt drink or get involved with the dancefloor in anyway after my performance, which is not how i like to get down. Back in Germany once tonights fashion affair is over, flying into Stuttgart early morning then off to Ulm for the Soulfire sessions. Really looking forward to it especially after meeting some of the crew in Sun and Bass, looking forward to a little reunion, ha ha! If your in the area you know what to do, come down get loud and shack out STANDARD! x
Im here finally, living here til the end of Oct, i know its only for a short while but still right now im here… (more…)
60,000 people, 400 acts in just one day. The Belgians don’t do things by half! Laundry Day at the beginning of September was the perfect way to kick off a month of adventures, all thanks to the terrific two Murdock & Netsky for getting me over there again, was a pleasure and always a joy!
The weekend is nearly here and so off to Vienna i go for my very first Fashion Week appearance, courtesy of the wonderful (and absent from this years Sardinian escapades) Gina Drewes. The fashion show for her new collection A Hazy Shade of Winter will be the final one on Friday followed by the aftershow party at the Volksgarten featuring me and the lovely Barca Baxant along with some dope DJs to do your thing to. If your in Vienna and want somewhere fabulous to go and be fabulous at i guess i’ll see you at the bar, you wont miss me ill be holding a cocktail umbrella, dressed dapper in Drewes x
It was a week and a day ago that i left the lovely island of Sardinia, the end to my Sun and Bass bliss. many a thing has happened since then, many fun and wonderful things in fact but its only now, today that im finally shaking my S&B hangover. Back to work i must go, i am not on holiday any longer…oh but for that wonderful week that we all were…big thanks as always to Stefano and crew for the stella shenanigans and gracious hosting, all bar staff and security at Ambra Day, Night and down the beach, you kept us all liquored up nicely
So right now im on the sunny beaches of Sardinia probably getting geared up for todays live session at Ambra Day, gonna be a special show for me indeed as im doing all new material, looking forward to getting a reaction to it as its mostly been in the studio all summer! Kinda nervous but hey ho what ever happens it will be lots of fun! So wish you all were here but as your not and as im not either (i wrote this on friday, ah the joys of scheduled blogging!) heres a look back to last years amazing live session with Lynx & Kemo, DRS and myself at the beautiful Bal Harbour!
So long, adieu goodbye my lovelies i have gone to further shores…ok im only in Belgium today but tomorrow ill be even further and then a week from now ill be in Berlin, not touching UK soil til Oct 4th, i can feel you miss me already as much as i miss you X
Ok so obviously i am yet to pack for my two months away in two different climates, as usual i have left every thing fashionably to the last minute. The main problem with the task in hand is the dreaded baggage limit on the Easyjet flights im taking, to try and solve this almighty problem i have been vainly trying to put together a capsule wardrobe which is a f**king nightmare! First off theres way to much information about this on the internet, various blogs with written essays on how to construct your personal perfect capsule wardrobes each of them equally dull. I mean 2 pairs of trousers and 1 pair of jeans how the hell am i supposed to choose between the 30 pairs of bottoms stacked up in my wardrobe? 2 Jackets, just two jackets and one of them is supposed to be a cardigan, what?!? Stick to neutral shades navy, beige, white, but where does my red Wrath reeboks or yellow Dynasty dress fit into that colour scheme….yeah i know i’ve worn it 3 times since i got it but still, i need it just incase!? (more…)
No no no not dirty washing, please put ya knickers away, im talking about the festival in Belguim, cant wait to get over there on Saturday to wail over Netsky’s set in his home town, if past events are anything to go by its gonna be crazy and the perfect way to kick off the month of September adventures Flying into Sardinia on Sunday for the mighty mighty sun and bass and after a week of that im off to Berlin til Nov! Playing around Germany so keep an eye out for when and where right here….in the meantime if your in Belguim, Antwerp tomorrow make sure you reach Laundry Day for some of this….
Saian Supa Crew are the dope shit, (though im by far superior on the playstation, Glasto ’03 FACT) if you dont know about them then please get to know, they have been tearing up microphones for at least 12 years that i know of and have consistently kept me captivated without having had a single idea of what their on about. I think that’s the test of a good rapper, if you don’t even understand the language he’s speaking but the flow is still dope enough to keep your attention. In fact with some of the ish these rappers are calling lyrics nowadays it would be a blessing to not have to understand whats being said…i wonder if Tinchy knows french? Anyhoo this song is ridiculous and has been in my top 10 sexy hip-hop tunes since i first heard it way back when, so many sounds, instruments, vocal tones, its just straight butter….makes me want to dance around in my underwear in front of curtainless windows with a soft light on at night, ‘ahoy there neighbor!’
Or do they only make beautiful music when blown into by a human? hmmmmm only one way to find out, pass me a leek please. Oh wait, hold that vegetable i can just watch this instead
Keeping in theme i thought we’d head to Italy next by way of New Mexico, Albuquerque to be exact. Breaking Bad watchers might recognize this foreign blur of words from Season 3, for the rest of you this will mean nothing. Gale is idly watering his plants whilst singing along to this fun ditty by an Italian vocal quartet from the 1940s just before the chicken man pays him a visit. So wish i could find a clip of Gale actually singing this from the show but there’s nothing on line and i can’t post it myself as Youtube r straight hating on me after the condom film from the other day…still is a fun listen, especially when the high parts kick in and totally foreign as i cant understand a bloody word, roll on Berlin!
Some where in the world its drinking time
Yay i did it with less than 3 wks to go and under £200 to spare when i land i have got myself a flat in Berlin for my two months visit! It couldn’t be more perfect, cheap gorgeous, round the corner from my long time friends, graffiti in the stairwells and has a cafe downstairs, das is gut!! To celebrate im blogging foreign stuff all day, i want to get in the mode of not understanding anything around me apart from the odd word…like ‘Whiskey Cola’.
Yeah i know the video is not German but ill get to that by the end of the day!
Im thinking this year theres gonna be alot of sick house parties in San Teodoro this September judging by some of these DJ mixes from festival goers hoping to win a set at this years Sun & Bass. Theres enough entries to give me a daily fix until the off lets hope there all as good as this from EdanUK, i can almost feel the sun coming through my speakers on this selection perfect for getting reayd after a day at the beach
The competition has closed to win a set at this years Sun & Bass festival in Sardinia however the mixes are still up online for your listening pleasure, today i’ve been enjoying Outlines upload at full blast and if you like laid back breaks and beats i think you should do the same too
Wow time is flying like mythical pigs round here and the official end to my summer is drawing closer and closer, Sun & Bass 2010! Im so excited that i’d thought i’d remind myself of whats in store by watching this short film from last years festivities hosted by Bailey! If you haven’t got your ticket yet and are still in need of a festival fix, it aint to late to get your sh*t together and go, see you on the beach bee-yatches!
