water out of air

So this made me smile today, little piece of engineering ingenuity that aims to make peoples lives better. My kids are going to this Uni…i obviously will have to emigrate to Peru and have kids before that happens but whatever they’re going there and while they change the world i’ll be supping Pisco Sours on a modest veranda somewhere.

Thanks to JOy for putting this in my FB feed today :)

obsessed with porn

Thats right this week it seems i cant get away from the topic of porn. Yesterday i tweeted Archie Blands suggestion of ethical porn sites today its porn sex vs real sex :)

like it, love it, miss it, blog it

Title to be read in a Daft Punk when they were good voice ;) Ho hum. So what a gwarn? Tons im guessin for me and you so lets just get straight into it, today i cant stop thinking about sex. Its like my mind keeps switching off and when i come to im just stood there with a really graphic thought in my head. The latest one consisted of the new Superman in his Immortals outfit (leather and sweat) and the dairy isle of Hulmes’ Asda, which is funny cause i dont drink milk.
In other news its SUMMER! That is official as it hasn’t rained in Manchester since last week however someone should tell that to the house down the road from me as they have their washing hung up in the front room…apart from peeking into my neighbours windows i have been spending the glorious summertime gigging with The Engine-Earz familia and in my garden getting my green fingers on. Pause for a Bruce Banner thought ;P Yesterday keeping me company in the garden was the briliant Space Love mixtape by Buenos Aires finest Bad Boy Orange. Felt like i was on a rooftop in Palermo (i miss that place) listening to this electric selection, such good vibes it would be rude not to share the love. Heres to the weekend people x

playin on the radio, 1000 soul songs

Finally its ready to unleash on the world, mine and Dies new tune 1000 soul songs or as its affectionately known up in Gutterfunk HQ 1000 mixdowns ;) Big shout to Mistajam for playin it twice Monday night and huge respect to all the people giving such lovely feedback. Due for release in summer we dedicate this one to the loves that inspired it xx

acoustic addiction via rinse.fm

Out Now is the 80′s homage from Krystal Klear and myself Addiction on Rinse, i popped into the label HQ in East London last week to record a live version for their Rinse Sessions. Helping me out with the acoustic backing was EngineEarz/Arusha Accord guitarist Tom Hollings and JLS newest band member Jack Guppy who did an excellent job had really fun day thanks to them, Julie and the drive time crew. See how it all went down above :)

mucky halloween

here i am indeed

As a woman that has worn Chanel 5 since she was old enough to buy it herself i couldnt help but scream “what the fuck are you on about?’ at the TV this evening when confronted by Brad Fit in their new advert spewing poetic nonsense about how wearing it isnt a journey because journeys end or some thing pointless like that…oh hes so sexy but clearly not enough to make lead weightless.  Not to have ago at Mr Pitt hes merely reading the script and the idea of having the worlds most sexiest man (official) tell me he likes nay loves the way i smell thats all very genius but couldnt they have splashed out a bit more on the script which seems to have been mustered together by a couple of 10year old on fashion blogging crack, queue parodies please.

20/20 four

We made it back from Sardinia and the wild roads of Europe, i swear thought i was dead 2 times in France thanks to Dads sporadically bad driving. Apart from that Laundry day and Sun & Bass were so much fun, The G family officially love Sardinia which as always was a joy, big shouts to all crew that made it so. Henry loved the beaches of San Teadoro, he even had his first swim 100m off shore (what a brave little puppy!) and got the first stamp in his passport!  Since our return my Dad has bought his first espresso pot and is planning on annoyingly answering the telephone in Italian for the rest of his life ‘Bon Journo’. It was funny to spending time with him on the road, even if his stick shift driving is a bit rusty we had a lot of fun taking wrong turns, passing through borders stoned, buying alcohol at motorway service stations, telling tour stories and singing along to the epic collection of music i loaded onto a USB stick for the snazzy system in the hire car. 8gbs of musical entertainment easily saw us through the 28 hours of road time clocked up over 3000km of road in 7 countries, wanted to give you a taster but how do i boil that down to 20 minutes?

Start her up to find out :)

happy travels x

Im off in a motorcar from Manchester to Sardinia via Belgium in search of the sun. I may not be back for a while so let me wish you all a perfect end to the summer where ever you may be ;)

ramon maiden

Browsing Esty today for what i cant remember because somehow i stumbled across the macabrely beautiful art of Ramon Maiden. Vintage posters & prints of women and military men adorned with his tribal/symbolic doodling, wooden hand etched tattoo pieces, custom razor blade collages…im hooked, love, liked and now shared :) (more…)

manchester in full force

Last night was a celebration of many things but most importantly it was the hometown launch for DRS’s album ‘I dont usually like MCs but’. My hometown, our Manchester came out in full force local artists old & new delivering their homegrown talents, wearing homegrown labels! Im not gonna lie im still drunk but not black out drunk i remember having an awesome time last night with some pretty awesome people. Big Up Del and all the Estate Recordings Crew, Marcus and the Soulution family, Band on the Wall and all that partied hard within her!

20/20 three

You’d think that with only 20 songs to pick and 20mins of mixing to be done i could knock these 20/20 selections together weekly, however you’d be wrong. My time keeping for personal projects as of late is abysmal and so it seems for now 20/20 is a monthly thing, this month im feeling all girly and so my mix will be just that…of the female persuasion.

Enjoy x

murdock & friends

So i just got introduced to one of the artists that will be making up the troop for Murdock & Friends at Laundry Day 2012, Antwerp. Theres gonna be alot of us making the crowd jump on the 1st of September, thought id give you all a sneaky peak. Above is Mr Vic Brauwers to be known here forth as Jnr keys ;) Below is the ever awesome Halve Neuro! (more…)

Not long now til Manchester family DRS drops his highly anticipated album, perfectly titled ‘I Dont Usually Like MCs But…’ in the wake of the release do not miss the album launches in London the 25th of this month and home town Manchester on the 26th, thats gonna be a long ass weekend for some people :)

sun & bass dj finalists :)

Congrats to the 6 DJ finalists heading over to Sun and Bass this year. Looking forward to lounging with the lucky loosers drowning their sorrows to all the sets in the glamourous surroundings of Bal Harbour, roll on the Sardinian spirit measures ;)

more sande me thinks

So no Kate Bush, well no physical Bush just a primary school maths unit sculpture being constructed to a pretty horrific remix of running up that hill. Instead the closing ceremony organiser…dunno who he was he never directed any Oscar winning films…decided to put Emelie Sande on stage like 100 fucking times, love her dont get me wrong but i know i wasnt the only one going ‘Emelie again? Not Ms Dynamite, Pixie Lott (god Forbid), Adele (she was probably to expensive), Leona Lewis (hello shes international), Kate Nash (clutching at straws here) Jessie J?!? Oh no wait she was there singing how its not about the money dripping in a diamond flesh suit and riding around in a Bentley. Kudos to Annie Lennox on a Goth Pirate ship, The Spice Girls on Taxis, John Lennon & Freddie Mercury from the grave and very much so to George Michael i dont care what anyone says. Yeah the new single isnt his best and maybe should have been edited down into a verse, chorus, outro but over 23 million people in the UK alone heard it, thats some serious promotion. How anyone can have a go at him for trying to make a quick buck when the draconian Olympic Marketing restrictions (that banned the use of words such as ‘gold’ ‘summer’ and ‘games’) have prevented anyone but the official sponsors doing just that, is in my opinion kinda ridiculous. Leave the man alone, your only jealous cause he has kinky sex and still smokes pot…basically living the teenage dream, FREEDOM!

end game – kate bush?

So Kate Bush MIGHT be closing the Olympics, its a wicked internet rumor that i just hope is oh so true. Its also a brilliant excuse to post a song from my favorite alleged female stoner. Mrs Bartolozzi aka Washing Machine is oh so apt for this beautiful sunny evening on which i intend to hang my laundry outside to dry…gotta love an eccentric chick!

When you can make out what shes saying, shes a bad gyal lyricist!

eastpak treasure hunt – 5 grand anyone?

*electronic beeping sound* News just in Eastpak have come up with the insane idea of hiding £5000 cash in an Eastpak backpack over Carnival weekend somewhere in London, nutters. During September all treasure hunters registered for free via the website – insidertrail.eastpak.com will receive challenges over the course of 3 weeks that give them a chance to see parts of London they never knew and more importantly find that big bag of cash. Registration opened yesterday and there are a limited number of places so go run free and let fortune find that bag of money x

serato icon series

‘The Icon Artist Series is a diverse, hand-picked collection of artists who represent and epitomise the Serato ethos’

Its great to hear musicians you admire that make music you love talk about the makings of that music and what it means to them as a whole. The Icon series delivered just that for me with episode 2 which featured Erykah Badu and they’ve done it again with number 4,  The Gaslamp Killer, i dare you to watch it and not head nod vigorously, i felt so pumped after it!
